The Lippincott Challenge

The Ellis R. Lippincott Award, established in 1975, annually recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions to vibrational spectroscopy. The award honors Ellis R. Lippincott, a vibrational spectroscopist and co-inventor of the Diamond anvil cell used in high pressure research.

Over the last 4 decades The Optical Society of America, The Coblentz Society and The Society for Applied Spectroscopy have had the honor of conferring this award to distinguished leaders in the field.

We need your help. The endowment is underfunded and we are soliciting donations to fully endow this award endowment.

An anonymous donor has pledged to contribute $5,000 if we can raise $5,000 from other private donations before the end of 2013. If we can raise just $5,000, our anonymous donor will turn that into $10,000. Check on the current progress via the donation meter below.

Please consider a year-end donation to support this important award endowment. With your support, we can fully fund this endowment and offer this recognition for many years to come. Donations can be made through the form at, or by contacting our treasurer, Mary Carrabba.
